Awakening the Inner Artist
The Paint and Splash event was a perfect way to unleash our creativity, tap into our inner artist, and spend a fun-filled day together! With paintbrushes in hand and a vibrant array of colours before us, the venue was set for a day of bonding, self-expression, and artistic exploration.
The event started with a relaxed, welcoming vibe. Each participant found their spot around the tabletop setup, ready to create their masterpiece. The freedom to choose colours, styles, and subjects allowed everyone to express their uniqueness. It was inspiring to see different themes and ideas come to life, from abstract designs to serene landscapes.
Some of us hadn't picked up a paintbrush in years, while others discovered a new passion for it right on the spot. With every stroke, we let go of our stress and found a rhythm in creating something beautiful.
The Paint and Splash was also about the connections we formed along the way. We encouraged one another, shared tips, and even collaborated on some creative ideas. Our case manager Yangchen, together with support worker Joy, came up with an idea and invited everyone to imprint their thumbs on a blank canvas and wrote the names of people around each print. They called the finished piece the "Jane’s Care Team." Each thumbprint varied in size and colour. From the way I saw it, it was a beautiful moment of creativity and collaboration, where everyone came together to craft something special and memorable together.
It was wonderful to see participants helping each other mix colours, offering suggestions, and thus the event became a space where everyone’s creativity thrived, with art as the bridge bringing us closer together.
The day concluded with a showcase of our collective masterpieces—each piece telling its own story. It was a reminder that creativity knows no bounds and that we all have an artist within us, waiting to be awakened. As we packed up our brushes and admired the gallery of creations, it was clear that the Paint and Splash event left a lasting mark on all of us. It was more than just an art session; it was a day of joy, connection, and rediscovering the simple pleasure of creating.
