ANZAC Day

Lest we forget

ANZAC Day held a special place in our hearts this year as it was a time to reflect, honour, and remember those who served and sacrificed. What made this event even more meaningful was the incredible support I received from everyone in making it a truly memorable day.

In the weeks leading up to ANZAC Day, the entire team at Jane’s Care came together to create beautiful poppy decorations. From cutting to crafting, many hands worked tirelessly to make the red poppies and soon our walls were adorned with beautiful red poppies that stood as a tribute to the brave ANZAC soldiers of the past. It was inspiring to see the collaboration and support that went into every detail.

The day itself was filled with warmth and connection. As we gathered, everyone savoured ANZAC cookies with a warm cup of tea, a small but significant tradition that added to the spirit of remembrance. One of our participants then stepped up to lead the event with a beautiful poem he had written about ANZAC Day. His words captured the essence of the occasion, bringing a sense of deep reflection and pride to all who listened. It was a touching moment that stayed with us long even after many days after the event ended.

The atmosphere at Jane’s Care on ANZAC Day was patriotic and different from the colourful festive celebrations of Harmony Day. While Harmony Day was about embracing diversity and unity, ANZAC Day was a day to come together not just as a community but as individuals paying respect to our history.

Looking back, I am incredibly grateful for the effort and support that made this ANZAC Day so special. It was a reminder of the strength and unity that define us at Jane’s Care, and how, together, we can create moments that resonate deeply with everyone involved.
