At Jane’s Care, we believe in creating events that bring joy and let our participants express themselves in creative and meaningful ways. Our recent “Glam and Shine” event was a perfect example of this vision.
The idea for the Glam and Shine event was simple: a day dedicated to helping our participants feel fabulous, whether through a fresh manicure or a vibrant new makeup look. But it wasn’t just about beauty on the outside; it was about creating a space where everyone could feel good about themselves, bond with each other, and enjoy a lively, engaging atmosphere.
To ensure a successful and safe event, I got the help from our compliance manager and went on a shopping trip to pick up all the essential makeup products and applicators. We knew that maintaining proper hygiene was important, especially in a setting where makeup and beauty tools would be used. We made sure to buy enough makeup brushes and applicators so that each participant could have their own, minimising the risk of cross-contamination. I was nervous and wondered if the day would be a success but my team at the office supported me in getting ready for the event, so I didn’t feel alone.
When the day of the event arrived, the participants slowly arrived at the venue. Things started quietly and since the idea of hosting a beauty event was new, our participants hesitated at first to participate in the event. Eventually one of them decided to break the ice and soon the area became a space where laughter, friendly chatter, and the buzz of excitement fill the air. Some of our support workers even played the role of amateur makeup artists, guiding participants through their glam sessions.
What made the Glam and Shine event truly special was that it had something for everyone. Not all participants were interested in a full-on glam session, and that was perfectly okay! Some chose to enjoy the event as observers and appreciating the transformations around them. It was heartwarming to see participants encouraging each other, sharing compliments, and simply enjoying the lively vibe of the day.
For those more interested in the culinary side of things, our BBQ was the main attraction. The smell of sizzling sausages and grilled vegetables filled the air, adding a delicious touch to the whole experience. The BBQ station became a social hub, where everyone gathered, whether they were flaunting a new look or simply enjoying the good company.
Looking back, the Glam and Shine event was more than just a beauty day; it was a celebration of togetherness and self-expression. The effort put into maintaining hygiene, creating an inclusive space, and ensuring that everyone had a role to play made all the difference. The event felt like a busy salon where we all came together as a community—hairdressers, makeup artists, and friends—each contributing to the day’s success.
At Jane’s Care, events like these remind us why we do what we do. It’s about creating moments that matter, where every individual feels seen, heard, and valued. The Glam and Shine event was a way of showing our commitment to build a place where everyone can find joy, connection, and the chance to shine—inside and out.
